Question ABS and Brakes warning light on

Hi All,
I am new to this forum, need your help. TIA.
I have 2004 S60 2.5 AWD. Recently I haven't drive my car for about 2 weeks, when I started my car last Friday it seems like the rear brakes stuck due to the rust, so I put heavier accelerator and the car moved but I saw the rear wheels were stucked! I did back and forth a couple times the car finally moved normally. However, the next morning the abs and brakes warning light on, and Brake failure message came on.
I used my car during the weekend, sometimes the warning light off and everything is working perfectly, sometime warning light on and error message come back as well. The weird thing is that the sterling also became very tight when the ABS and brakes warning light on. the odometer is also stopped!
I think it may be a connector that abs or brakes in somewhere was loose or maybe something else... couldn't find a similar posting...
Please help.
Thanks,
Frank

To begin with recharge your battery.
2 weeks is a long time for the battery to be on standby especially if it was quite low anyway and low system voltage can cause strange electrical behaviour and warnings.

I would take the discs off and check the handbrake shoes for delamination. Also check the condition of the pads and ABS sensors for dirt.

Rear parking shoes are known to delaminate worth a check.

The ABS module at the bottom of the ABS valve unit is known to fail sometimes.

Another area to check would be a fuse on the CEM - also known to go bad but it's the first time I read about locking the rear wheels, so perhaps less probable in your situation.

When checking handbrake shoes, also make sure the cables move with ease.
When a cable seizes up the springs on shoes are not strong enought to push it back.
However in that case you migt have difficulty to remove and reinstall the drums/rotors.

Hi,
What is the CEM? if the fuse is bad will cause those issues?
Thanks,
Frank

The ABS sensors on all 4 wheels are also used for the speedo and odometer. Get the fault codes read and it should identify the problem.
