I've shared this on fb too, get it advertised everywhere, I'm convinced thats how my Golf came back
Bare in mind, if this is banger related, when the 240's dry up, its going to be 7/9 series they'll be going after!!

These people need to be setup to be caught out, although realistically its only the police who could arrange such a setup, as if any of the public tried to catch out these thieves then knowing this country we would end up getting done in some way!
But surely if these cars are being targeted in the same area, then all it takes is for the police to plant a car and arrange for it to be tracked so they can then be taken to the thieves or find out where these cars are being transported to? ....or have I been watching too many cop shows! But anyhow mate, sorry to hear about this as to have your car not just stolen but outside your property must be devastating. |

^^^ Good idea, but 'tethered goat' arrests are frowned upon by CPS. Grrr!
Anyway, Lordbiscuit I am gutted for you. We all know how we'd feel if it were us. I've added your post & pic to the Volvo Owners UK Facebook page. The more eyes the merrier

Sorry to hear this. Hope you get it back in one piece
I would be totally gutted if some scum nicked my 1989 240GLT. The 240 is such a great motor James |

Without wishing to state the obvious, it would that not only are 240's being targeted, but also that the thieves are able to overcome any security quite easily. Perhaps other owners should be looking at investing in aftermarket alarms and immobilisersto improve the security. Good luck with getting it back.

Sorry to hear the thieving vermin have stolen your 240.
Pester power is your best weapon here- pester all the racing promotions locally (Spedeworth International, PRI at Arena Essex, Smallfield raceway, to name three ) Include details of distinctive marks and a complete vin number. Colour, too, though bear in mind it will probably have the chassis plate damaged, doors welded shut so the VIN on the A post is unreachable, a spray job, and a different engine. Keep on at your local police, if 240s are vanishing locally there is a pattern. Don't be fobbed off with the " someone has nicked it to get home/going to use it for a ram raid/ gone abroad for parts"- it has been stolen , possibly to order, for racing. Contact any racers you may know locally. MP? they keep on about falling crime, make em work for their money. Sadly, the penalties for stealing a car, or receiving a stolen car, are not very robust. I had this happen to me years ago, and got the car back. It was beyond repair though. At least I could sell some mechanical bits. Best of luck with your search, keep everyone informed if it turns up. |

Well....
I've had a mental day. Got a real story to tell with not the best ending but an ending nonetheless. Gotta go have a pint now, need a few, I'll do a full write up in the morning, far too much to write now. Thanks everyone. |
