Default 2019 XC90 D5 - strange 'metallic' noise on start up

Hi All

My wife just sent me this video when she took our youngest to nursery this morning... https://youtube.com/shorts/3FzUjiNX798?feature=share

She's heard it occasionally over the last 3-4 weeks but when she took it to Volvo last week for its regular service they couldn't find anything wrong.

Anyone know what it could be so we can get them looking in the right direction?

Thanks in advance, JB

If a manual possibly dual mass flywheel ? See if the noise disappears/changes when the clutch pedal is depressed ?

Could be a worn bearing in one of the pulleys in the auxiliary belt area. They can make a right racket when they're bad.

It's a little odd that noise as you would expect it to change note in line with revving the engine if it was an idler or pulley yet it seems to stay the same in the background behind the engine note.

Maybe try holding the revs at around 2500 rpm for a few seconds to see if the tone changes.

Occasional…..could it be the air con compressor or pulley? Maybe switch it off and see if it’s heard ?
