The car hasn't been to a dealers for 4 years.
My car goes in for it's first service on Monday. They (main dealership), have quoted me £285 for parts, labour, VAT, use of a loan car AND includes software updates.

I asked about just having a software update as and when in the future and was told as part of a service = no charge.

Otherwise £25-30 plus VAT depending on the amount of software to be updated if that makes sense.

Mine had it's first service on Monday. £278 all in, parts, labour, VAT, loan car for the day, 1 litre of oil thrown in plus some air fresheners. Quite happy really.

I had my first main dealer service last Dec. Same products as yours with the exception of the litre of oil - £220.

ps They gave me a C30 which didn't cut the mustard with a family of 5. Suppose I'll mention that next time before I drop off the XC90.

I had an S60. Likewise not overly impressed with it but I suppose you can't really compare it with the '90'

Going in next week for essential service at £150. This is to include software updates - main reason for putting it in as it hasnt been serviced at dealers for 5 years.

Surprised for them to say that the updates are one software download - checks and updates as necessary, but they cant tell me afterwards what if anything has been updated.

Hope this isnt a con!!

Just booked my 07 XC90 in for a service next week. I phoned round and found the following:
  • Good Independent = £180 incl VAT (Romar - Volvo Specialist)
  • Standard Dealer Service = £291 (Marshalls Milton Keynes) (Incl courtesy car, 1 yr roadside assistance, Free MOT etc)
  • 4+....Seems to give 10% off the price above, so £261.95 (purely because car is 4 years old)
  • Volvo Essential Service - £199 - Apparently doesnt include pollen filter and roadside assistance or Free MOT, or courtesy car. Not sure on software upgrade

I have gone for the £199. Effectively £20 for the dealer stamp. Hopefully worth it, when I come to sell. It keeps up the full dealer history, that I got when I bought the car.

My one certainly doesnt have breakdown cover & Im not bothered about that.

It does have software updates and courtesy car if required, but only really changes oil & filter - everything else is checks.

I feel for £150, it gets a software update and some good oil in it & a Volvo stamp - I will then put it into my local indie for fuel filter change and new track rod ends (again).

Got the car serviced today - never thought I'd say this, but the Arnold Clark service was great.

£183 for essential service, software updates, changed brake fluid and some fuel cleaning additive AND the breakdown assistance thing I didnt think was included.

Also report on my worn track rod end and play in wishbone mounting?

Although they couldnt tell me what updates were installed, something has definetely happened to the auto box - doesnt seem to go out of gear and reselect the minute I take my foot off the accelerator like it used to and it is soooo much smoother.

Tyres are all at 3 or 4mm as well, not bad - Wintracs fitted 09/2010 and covered 20k - including a lot of towing.
