Default Cv joint boot clip question

Just been told by the MOT garage that you aren't allowed to use large plastic ties to secure the cv joint boots and that it has to be the metal clips. Is this true?

There is nothing in the MOT Testers manual about this ,
But plastic ties do not have enough strength to seal a volvo plastic boot . Use the correct volvo parts ..

Thanks Clan, it was a general question as the car I took in was an Audi A4. I was however surprised when they said this and very suspicious when they said the car would be an mot failure as a result, especially when the CV joint in question was only changed last week! Makes me think that these large network garages offering cheap 50% MOT's will make sure they get some extra work out of you by some dodgy dealings.....
