Default Feeling a bit of an idiot....

Afternoon all

further to my tie rod thread I have an issue with the car wandering quite badly, Similar to the description given by ipd on the blurb for there subframe inserts. I did the tie rods last weekend as they had a lot of play, tracked it up, new tyres etc but the issue is still there.

Today is the first time in a while I've got the car over the deep MOT pit at work with the logic of putting a pry bar on the bushes to see where any play is, I also thought I'll check the lower engine torque mount while I'm down here as its a popular one to re/poly bush.....and

its not there!

I can only guess it wasnt replaced back when I had the clutch done in 2011 I can't beleive I've missed it all this time, what a numpty!

Now I'm far from an expert on the things but feeling the play in the top mount and the complete absence of a lower would this allow sufficient movement of the engine and transmission to cause the handling issues I'm having? Would imagine that big D5 lump sloshing about would be enough to knock it for 6!

I've got the bit on order for fitment in the morning, so just looking to see if this might sus the problem.

Cheers

The numpty (aka Matt)

At a guess, no it's not going to solve your issues.

The torque mount prevents fore/aft movement not lateral movement.....hopefully I'll be proved wrong.
