It would be good to get the agreement in writing as you mentioned earlier.

This is how my headlight’s are sitting currently. I take that the left light is at its lowest point? Is there a way to manually adjust the headlight to increase the beam to match the right? I’m sure I’ve read other vehicles it can be adjusted from the top of the headlight unit, by twisting some adjustments. I don’t see any on this car. Anyone know?

Inside the car, there's a scroll wheel next to the headlight controls that you can use to set the level of your lights. Make sure that's set to the "0" position, which means its neutral.
Then lift the bonnet, near the headlights on the slam panel (the metal over the top of the radiator), you'll see circle holes in the metal panel (above the headlights). In one of those holes (one on the right and one on the left), there's an adjuster screw. Turn that with a hex socket to adjust it. Looks like your passenger light needs adjusting higher. Just be careful not to adjust it too much, otherwise people might start flashing at you at night! Try to get them at the same level or as near as.

Be careful with the adjusters. They’re plastic I believe.

Will do. What size hex is it? Had a quick look and saw two white plastic adjusters. Edit: got the right driver, will hopefully adjust tonight. Can the headlight be left on at ‘0’ position when adjusting or should the vehicle be switched of? (might be a stupid question…).
Will try to get it booked into for transmission oil at either one of the two mentioned specialists in Manchester. Car has been little violent when placing into D (few times it has decided to violently jolt). Goes through all gears fine. Wished there was a way to keep tabs on the transmission oil level and condition with dipstick. Used to be able to see colour of engine oil and level with ease in the Golf. Does anyone also know any good places to have alloys refurbished? I have the Ixion alloys diamond cut which are not in great condition. Not going to do urgently as short of cash but in near future. Has anyone here had them powder coated normal alloy silver colour, if so could I see pictures? Thanks. Last edited by Waqar92; May 9th, 2024 at 21:28. |

Sorted the levelling for the headlight. A small turn goes a long way! Can’t remember turning it, just slotted the driver over the plastic hex adjuster to see if the driver is the right size. Went to adjust it now, and realised I’ve already magically done it. Happy days.

Spoken too soon. No idea what this car is doing. The headlights were set correctly there. For some reason the right headlight is deciding to become higher than the left. I adjusted that down but it seems to show a very odd pattern.
I’ve switched ABL off because I feel it is too high and going to dazzle users. I can move the setting further down but I’m losing light towards the middle. :/ |

Explains now why I have been flashed 2/3 times on the road. What do I do with the right headlight? Is there any further adjusters, or is this headlight unit faulty?
