Seems like your problem is not unique Lexman8, see post #41 onward on this Sweedspeed thread

Considering the problems you have had with your new car, do you regret rejecting the old one Lexman?

Hi Lexman ...I was directed here through another Volvo forum.
Looks like we have something in common.

We have an appointment to bring it in on the 13th and I just sent in pics to Volvo Customer Care yesterday.

In some ways, yes. The old car was utterly reliable in the time I had it and had the bonus of having the rear climate system fitted (a factory mistake). However, my OCD would probably have sent me mad every time I looked at the paintwork, especially as it was the driver's door so I saw it every day.

The car is going in on Monday for a new comms module to be fitted. I'm not holding my breath that it'll solve the outstanding issues. The problems started intermittently on 08 Nov and went hard on 16 Nov. It took 2 weeks and 3 visits to the dealer to diagnose the fault and I've been waiting since 30 Nov for the replacement comms module to be available. Not impressed by any of that really.

In the 6 months I've been a Volvo owner I've had 2 weeks with a perfectly functioning, no-faults car. Not great is it.

Sorry to hear of your paintwork problem; looks like a very similar issue to mine. It turned out that my driver's door had been resprayed (probably at the factory, having been damaged on the line) but no-one owned up to it at any stage.

Under UK law I was able to reject the car as being unfit for purpose and I got a new, replacement car. I guess you'll have similar laws in the US. Good luck getting it fixed and let us know how you get on.

How can such an obvious fault get passed Volvo quality control, dispatch and dealer preparation stages and handed over to a customer, I can only think the door was damaged at the dealership and they resprayed it and tried to pass it off, surely Volvo quality control cannot be that poor. Or can it.

It does look very amateur, local body shops would match the paint better, I cannot see how they would think a customer would accept that as it is very obvious.

A big problem "ourdesign" will have now if rejecting the car (as I would) is will he get a replacement registered before the new road tax levy comes in, in April. This could cost him a lot of money over the next 5 years. Compo required in some form.
