Default Want to change the bulbs for the rear number plate

Howdy

Was driving the wifes car last night, all recently cleaned and it struck me that the 30 pence worth of bulbs that serve to illuminate the rear number plate look pretty naff in an otherwise tidy looking car.

It is a 62 plate XC60, can someone point me in the direction of some blue/white LED festoon bulbs I can put into this car as a replacement, do I need Canbus equipped versions? I've never changed a bulb in a Volvo!

Thanks very much for your help!

There's already a couple of threads on this...

Plenty on amazon, eBay or ebuyer and auto bulb shops. Simple swap no need for Cambus error ones

Hi

I have searched some threads. I would like to find a decent UK supplier for this stuff. So far I cannot find any LED bulbs which are 8000K in colour?

8000k - that will be bright blue, almost ultra violet.

You want 4300k for daylight or 6500 for bright white

38mm is the norm I think but up to 42mm will fit.

What colour would you say the bulbs are in this thread?

Have to check if the wifes car has puddle lights as well. I have not noticed them yet??

Difficult to say as the white balance of the camera has affected the picture but they are very blue, possibly that 8000k you are looking for.

Not A temperature I would ever use.

LEDs to illuminate the number plate look terrible, in my opinion. They provide two bright strips of lights so don't illuminate evenly, and look very obviously aftermarket.

Personally I'd get regular bulbs that are a tad brighter but with a wide light dispersal pattern.

Another thing to consider is cleaning and polishing the number plate itself to ensure that it reflects light evenly and as much as possible.

Just my 2p worth, but each to their own.

These are just 'cool white' LED's with no colour temperature stated.

There's absolutely loads about - just try and find some reviews first as there's equally loads of ****e.
