2003 V40 1.9D Sport 115bhp 140k
Hi All
Im selling my 2003 V40 1.9D Sport 115bhp which i have owned since April 2015. I bought it on 82k from Paul Rigby Volvo dealer in Brimingham. The car is in great condition for its age and has been well maintained. Modifications made are - fitting the single US in dash cup holder - braded hoses on the braking system - fitting a phase 1 cubby hole in boot space (partially complete). Will be selling with a set of genuine volvo v40 roof bars and new set of brembo brake discs, air filter and anything else related to the car i have. The car has the 16" bbs wheels which i had refurbed and powder coated in May 2016 and dunlop blue resonse tyres all round with good life in them. It will also have 12months MOT on it. Car returns around 50+ mpg with fresh oil in it. It is in metalic grey and when clean the body looks like new as it has been waxed polished, clay bar treatment by me. There is the odd minimal mark due to age, its not a show car but does look great. I keep a spreadsheet of all the work i have done: Mileage-Service-Comments 85,000-pollen filter 86,000-oil and filter-Fuchs 5w-40 Titan SuperSyn 500146963/600419653 88,000-new shut off valve 88,000-air filter 90,000-front discs and pads 90,000-oil and filter-Fuchs 5w-40 Titan SuperSyn 500146963/600419653 95,000-gearbox oil 95,000-diesel fuel filter 95,000-oil and filter-Mobil Super 3000 103,389-pollen filter-Febi 103,389-oil and filter-Mobil Super 3000 X1 105,000-egr valve 106,000-rear calipers discs pads and front and rear braided lines 111,000-oil and filter, air filter, pollen filter-Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil 119,000-oil and filter-Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil 120,000-timing belt, water pump, aux belt, tensioners, idler-Gates kits x2, diesel fuel filter, air filter, oil and filter, pollen filter 130,000-oil and filter, replaced power steering fluid-Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil, Genuine Volvo Power Steering Fluid (mineral green) 136,300-oil and filter, anti rollbar links x2-Mobil 1 FS 0W-40 Fully Synthetic Engine Oil. The car looks and drives great. I have purchased a 7 seater for the family hence sale (+wife needs a small runaround), i will be very sad to see this car go. As it has been bulletproof. It has full grey leather heated seats, AC, genuine rubber mats. Interior is very clean. Comes with a Brodit mount. Also comes with a Pioneer BlueTooth double din head unit (fitted a few months ago). Original book and 2x keys. Central locking works fine and power windows all round. Bad bits: - the heater blower has been erratic for several years, which is a common problem, i have not changed the it a it is still usable. - one of the abs sensors needs cleaning/replacing - every now and then the airbag light comes on (minor common fault) - i have removed the siren from behind the drivers wing (another common fault as the battery had expired) and i dont see the need of the alarm siren. I will be advertising it for £2000 on popular sites but i would prefer to sell it to a fellow forum member who will appreciate the car and will want to own it and look after it like I have with a view to owning it a maintaining it forever! These are solid cars built to last! And they were in the top 20 most reliable cars of their era! I am offering it here on for £1500 – no offers. I live in Heald Green, Cheadle, Cheshire, SK8 area. Not go round to taking pics but i have attached one from last summer.

Hi, thanks for the pics, the car looks absolutely amazing! I love the old 40's - I bought my wife an S40 for £300 that she ran for 3 years without fault. Full leather, auto etc. Needed a few jobs but we let it go and went for something newer and cheaper on fuel. I was gutted - she less so!
I am very, very interested in your car. The only thing I would ask at this stage is, if we agree a deal, would you be able to pop it over to me at Frodsham (Wa6 7PB), at my cost, as I always find difficulty in securing a lift...despite always giving lifts out. Would you also mind revealing the registration, just so I can do a DVLA MoT check. Many thanks. Dave. |

V40 cupholder
Sorry to be off topic but I’m thinking of buying the in dash cupholder that you have fitted from the states but do you have to do any major surgery to fit it to a uk car.? Good luck with the sale, I would buy your v40 if I was in the market, cracking car.

Nothing major, the current space is an open cubby with a blocked off end. You need to remove the surround and chop the end off to open it up. This allows the cup holder to slide in place. Also the cup holder can break inside but they are easy to fix, its usually the bit of plastic that holds the spring in place.
