Default Denison Gateway 500 - IPOD Interface

I've been following a thread on a couple of other forums about installation of an Denison Gateway 500 modules into an XC90.

This module is able to interface with the MOST optical network that the Volvo stereo uses and in doing so provides an IPOD, USB memory Stick (MP3,WAV) and AUX (analogue audio) input.

I've been looking for a solution that didn't requiring opening up the power up or using an FM modulator for a while.

In the last few days a number of reports have confirmed it works. One kind chap has also produced these instructions:

http://forums.swedespeed.com/zerothread?id=88544

Perhaps it's worth finding a local supplier (UK) and negotiating a group purchase as the guys over in the states have done for this box.

Am i reading the guide correctly, you cut the optical cable? or are simply unplugging 1 side of the cable from the connector.

What concerns me is the cutting into the current optical cables, if it was a matter of a jumper type plug, then i'd be happier. Permanently cutting into my cables scares me. Copper fine, glass, humm.

I'm hoping its just a simple plug dismantle job. Can anyone confirm this?

Has anyone actually seen one of these working???

Even at that price, I am actually interested... AS LONG as the sound quality is as good as the std 6cd in mine. I have the premium pro logic sound system, and Ipod connectivity is one thing I really miss.. Also they reckon the Dension lets you use the steering wheel controls to change tracks, and still displays track names.....

Wonder if they suppliers will do me a demo?

I ordered one over xmas but it got recalled by the manufaturer. They said there were issues with it working with European XC90's. Have they resolved the issues ? I'm still interested in buying one but want to know it will work without issues. The installation looks a little time consuming but OK.

Default Denison Gateway 500 - IPOD Interface

Hi all

Have recently taken charge of a 07 XC90 SE D5 Geartronic and love it to bits, apart from the poor iPod integration - aux in 3.5 mm socket only. Does anyone know if the Denison Gateway 500 is now compatible with the Volvo factory fitted stereo - my stereo has the in dash 6 cd changer.

cheers

Mick

I have just fitted one to my 2005 XC90 with cd Changer and the sound is excellent...their website does show compatibility with models 2002 - 2006.

HOWEVER: I cannot get track information to appear on my head unit.

Any one with any ideas on this??
