I don't think Clan meant to be insulting, he isn't saying you clocked it, just that it looks tampered with. It may have had a second hand clock at some time and been wound to match the genuine mileage?
Anyway, is this the model that had the Renault engine?

no , never meant to insult , just explaining how those mileage digits become on a slant .. Untouched ones are always even , this goes right back to cars from the 60's . The 340 must be one of the last cars not to go electronic with the instruments :-)
