We are very lucky to have the NHS and the staff were all absolutely amazing, the amount of abuse they had to put up with just from patients on my ward was awful though! It's no wonder they're short staffed as they work 12 hours shifts and get treated like cr@p. |

We are now in proper Rolls-Royce territory, instead of being outside the local scrapyard. I can only fault it on two points: when the paintwork was done they omitted to have the freehand coachlines done along the chrome and bonnet line. It should have twin lines in brick red - one above and below the chrome strip, extending as a twin line along the bonnet. Minor point, but not easy to get done these days. I had my wheel discs hand lined - as per original - by an old boy in Coventry. He worked out of his garden shed and I had the privilege of watching him do them. He placed them on a turntable, gave them a spin, laid the paint loaded brush on the disc and painted a perfect coach line - all four perfect first time. A true craftsman if ever I saw one. Second point: the bonnet is unlatched That is exactly what one should be looking for and at about the right price point. I would buy it in a heartbeat.

Drooling over the Rolls, has brought back memories of a little feature I loved playing with. If you look at the ebay picture of the instrument cluster there is a red line drawn on the fuel gauge and marked 'min oil'. The fuel gauge normally registers fuel in the tank, but by pressing a button on the dash it switches to a float in the engine sump and measures the engine oil level. It should then always read maximum. Rolls did state in the handbook to not wholly rely on the electric gauge, but to periodically check the level with the dipstick.
It became part of the starting routine to check the oil level. Daft I know, but it just seemed civilised not to have to lift the bonnet.

Although it was quite tempting to buy a rough 1970/80s RR for 5 grand and run it a morte (or perhaps until it was broken for spares), I tend to agree that a nice motor car like this one would probably make me much happier in the longer term. I won't be looking at this RR in particular, but this will spur me on (no pun intended) to get a second (and larger) garage constructed at my 'Vegas place and so be in a position to accommodate a similar motor car from the autumn. I don't have Facebook (or other social media) so I can't see the ad. Does that mean the asking price is £3,500 or £3,000 now? Alan
