Default C70 Alternator Problem

Finally i think i may have found the battery drain problem on my car thanks to an American Volvo forum, all symptoms are the same as mine
Faulty Diode in the Alternator
Instead of replacing the alternator does anybody know if it is possible to remove the alternator and just replace the diode with a new diode before refitting?
I dont know if this is possible as this is probably one of the few repairs i havent undertaken myself before.
If it is possible has anyone come across any diagrams or helpful pointers to carry out this repair?
Links would be very much appreciated, Thanks

arong, Personally I wouldn't touch an Alternator with a 20 foot electric Cattle Prod!!!...Leave it to the "EXPERTS" ...

Heres a Firm that'll Check & "Rebuild" yours ( & from your Profile its "fairly" local to you as well ...)
