As an aside, I'm somewhat suspicious as to the attitudes, and conscientiousness within the motor trade to single-use bolts. In fact I started a thread in the 'general' area earlier tonight, but nobody has yet taken the bait.

I'm not sure the caliper bolts are 'stretch' or if there's some other reason that they're single-use. Either way, I wonder how strictly it is observed, even by dealers?
When I did mine a few months ago at 65k miles, I did a complete 4 wheel disc/pad and H/B shoe change with Volvo badged components. These no doubt are made by one of the main 'good' manufacturers, i.e. Mintex, Ferodo, Pagid etc. However, with Forum discount, the FRF supplied Volvo ones were cheaper than a complete set from any other single supplier I checked. Multiple suppliers could have been slightly cheaper but any small saving may have been wiped out by multiple delivery charges.

I've had the car since 36k miles and it looks from the service record before then that this was the first time even pads had been changed.

Regarding caliper bracket bolts, the Volvo supplied rear disc set did not have a new set of bolts included so I used the original ones but the front disc set did have new bolts included so those were used.

Fronts are coming up for replacement at 124k so have started asking around. Volvo main dealer wants €261 for discs and pads or I can have QH delivered to my door for €105 but would have to get the carrier screws myself. Hardly worth quibbling over a few quid. Any opinions anyone?

261 euro seems to be a bit steep to me! IIRC I only paid for original dealer parts around the same as I would have done at ECP - somewhere around £130 / £140 I think all in (bolts included). 105 euros looks to be a good price for QH (supply OEM parts for a lot of cars). Steve

Dealer Euro prices here seem to run UK x 2. Rufe got my timing belt stuff delivered for half. Discs however are a more weighty proposition.

Replaced my front pads today with genuine Volvo (£30 off ebay). Discs looked good without any lip so these have stayed on.

Did not have any replacement caliper bolts to hand, but will replace these soonest.

Just to revive a thread which came up as first result on my search

I'm unhappy with my rumbling/vibrating/hard to modulate front brakes so I'd like to replace them at next service (they've just passed mot without issue btw)

Any tips on the current best place to get a set of genuine Volvo discs and pads for a 2005 S60 D5?

Thanks

You'll need to measure them, as there are 2 or 3 different diameter discs.
Don't go by the wheel size, as for example mine has 17" wheels, but 286mm discs.

Best prices are found on eBay for genuine. Many dealers sell on there. Lloyd Volvo in Carlisle have given the best prices from what I have seen.

I'll agree with that. I bought my rear shoes from them.
There was a slip in the package saying in the future to call them and they would try to beat any price on Ebay.
The telephone number given was 01228 400 700
