Default S80 T6 engine hesitation

Can anyone help? I have a 2002 T6 which runs a dream 'normally' as soon as I need full throttle for overtaking the engine seems to constantly cut out. It seems to surge with full power then die for a second then surge again. It repeats this until I reduce the throttle pressure. Only happens when engine is under full pressure. Any suggestions??? Thanks

Had a new fuel filter fitted at last service only 3000miles ago as I thought that might be the cause...possibly I have been told it could be the turbo boost control solenoid but I know nothing about this part....

Meant to mention, I had a diagnostic done and no fault codes were found.

fitted the new turbo boost valve (cost £48) and tested it on the motorway, does she go now or does she go...... its like taking the handbrake off and unleashing the beast..
Just have to be careful now to keep the licence clean.
So easy to fit the TBV and easy to find next to the air filter box

Was this bought from Volvo and do you have a part number please? I have the exact same problem. Also is that the valve by the air filter box?

Thanks in advance!

bought it through a volvo specialist (not main dealer) near Wigan.
It is attached to the engine side of the air box with three black hoses and one electrical conector.
Part number for the genuine volvo part is 30670448 but it is written on the side of the valve in white writting so double check it is the same one on yours. Very easy to fit but it has been recommended to me that after fitting you disconect the battery for 30mins to reset.

I have a similar problem on my 2.4T V70, but not quite as bad as you describe.

There's an other issue as well, I wonder if you had this prior to fixing as I think it may be connected.

If I cruise at a steady speed for example 60-70 mph there is an occasional, very slight misfire...

no i never experienced a misfire i'm afraid.
Could urs be linked to the fuel pressure sensor, or even as simple as a faulty plug or blogged fuel filter???

Sorry Bodger, meant to add? Have you had any fault codes read yet? Or any warning lights on the dash? I had neither on mine so gambled on it being the TBV after trawling the forums.
