Possessed blower fan?
Hi,
I'm determined to resolve an issue with my 2003 v40. The symptoms right now are that 1) the green a/c on indicator will turn on and off by itself when the a/c is supposed to be on continuously, 2) the blower fan fluctuates in speed intermittently while the fan is in the auto position - this seems to happen more when I've got the ac on vs just the heater/fan, 3) on occasion pressing the ac button to turn it off will not work - it can take a few tries. I read the postings suggesting the resistor replacement and thought that would do the trick. Went ahead and replaced only to encounter the same issues next drive out. I've read that the climate control module may be the issue and I'm hoping it's not. Can anyone recommend any other cheap potential fixes before I consider the ccm avenue? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated. |

It stands a chance it is the POTS that are on you ccm, dirty or otherwise.
if you remove the CCM from the car, (carefully) , then disasemble it, clean the pots with an electrical contact cleaner,, rebuild, refit,, try.... there is a post or two on here about that,, where to find them and how to replace them with new pots if the cleaning fails pot - potentiometer - variable resistor,, the bit the knob turns to adjust the speed/temp. BUT ,,as your A/C button is disengaging itself, there could be other faults with the CCM .. you may cure the possesed speed, but perhaps not the a/c kicking out,, But while you have the CCM out,, check All the solder joints you can and resolder any that look like they could be/ are "Dry joints". that or get a CCM from a breakers, it Will be cheaper than a main dealer.

Is the ccm hard to remove
Thanks, I may give that a try and will definitely let you know how I make out. How difficult a job is removing the ccm?

Oops.... Just realised you are across the pond. Best way is to try the new unit while you are there. To make it easier remove the stereo and stereo housing, so you have quick access replacing the ccms.

Have this issue myself but its never really bothered me that much. Think it may also affect my heated seats as passenger gets hotter than driver and in cold weather only the passenger side comes on automatically.
Gatos - How much do you want for the spare control panel and are you willing to do your usual try before you buy offer? |

You can set the heat temps for each seat at different levels vida/vadis/dice/vct2000 needed you can set the "low" and "high" levels, there are "std" settings,, Leather being slightly higher than cloth, but with a trip to the dealer (or someone with the kit) you can adjust them to "lightly warmed buns"<>"roasted buns" ,as long as you stay within the recomended levels that is,, too hot and you risk "fire buns" you can also set the auto seat heating to "on" or "off" (depending on ambient ext temps) by pressing and holding the button for that seat , for 3 seconds Alex, sorry chap but you cant just swap the buttons over, theres a pile of extra electronics on the ones With heated seats as well as the two buttons. needs to be a "like for like" a/c<>ccm , heated seats<>no heated seats , dsa<>no dsa
