Really nice looking mod dude, and great write-up. Picking up my '56 plate S40 in a couple of weeks and definitely looking to follow your footsteps for mine.

Nice one

Thanks very much!
The bulbs & ballasts are supplied by Welldone Lighting. They are the only company to guarantee against failure of the wiper motor. There is no need for extra earthing direct to the chassis, relays or wiring direct to the battery.
I wanted a neat install with OEM quality.
The bulbs are 6000K colour temp which are OK, but I prefer 4300K for that OEM look. Even though they do not stock 4300K in D2S type, they are producing a batch on my request!
Now that's customer service!

Have you installed these yet? How do you find them?
Wanting to do similar myself.

Hi Kane,

I must admit I've been completely lazy with the summer days being here and little need to use the lights. So basically I've still not fitted them yet.

I've got a new torque mount on order and when it arrives I'll get these few little jobs done in one go. So hopefully over the next couple of weeks.

Default Retrofit wiring

Hi. I have a 2011 Volvo S40 and I'd like to upgrade to HID. I would like to know how you did with the wiring of the ballast. Did you have to drill a hole in the headlight rear cap? Did you have to buy anything extra besides the projector, HID bulb and ballast? And last: the ballast that you used is CANBUS? I mean, does the car show any bulb out warning?

Thanks a lot!

Hi Jon,

I did attempt to send you a private message but I haven't posted 30 times, so was unable to.
Could you provide a link to the HID kit you bought, please?
I bought the projectors you recommended and purchased a HID Kit from elsewhere, but the bulbs won't fit the projector housing so I need to return them and get a suitable kit.
If you could provide some info on the kit you bought it would be a massive help.
Thanks,

Dave
