Default V70r awd lowering

Just made some drop bolts up for my awd v70r and very happy with the results i went for a 30mm rear drop, to level the car up.

It now looks as it should have coming from volvo, also means i keep the comfy suspension with out using expensive coilovers and can still put 500kg (lol) in the boot should the need arise.

This pic shows the height before dropping a bit clearer.

Total cost less than £15 with parts available from ebay and takes approx 2hrs with minimal tools.

Essentially with nivomats, they do 80% of the work of the suspension and spring, with the spring being a helper spring.

The nivomat governs ride height, what your doing is unbolting the shock and droping it through the bottom wishbone. Obviously using longer bolts and bushes to space them out.

Now because the shock is dropped (mine was 38mm, 30mm bush and an extra m10 nut) you can cut the spring by a coil with no problems.

one coil is 30mm drop, and technically the spring is under an extra 8mm of compression on mine, so spring doesn't drop etc (wouldnt at 38mm off either)

The springs on these look nothing like 850 / v70 springs, more like coilover springs and are only shaped at one end, where it goes into the plastic mount at the top. The bottom side of the spring is hardly shaped at all, hence not a issue to remove a coil as it fits back in perfectly.

10, 12, 15mm, sockets, grinder and a bar to lever down the suspension with.

30mm bush, 80mm m10 bolts high tensile, thats it easy peasy.

this chap on ebay will supply unthreaded bushes for people, remembering unthreaded is better as most m10 bolts will have an unthreaded shank for some of the way. He will also do whatever size you want, suggest 20mm diameter.

It's actually settled down a touch lower now, as took pics after it was done. But it's a lot lower than it was.

The lowering has been perfect for the last 1000 miles carrying various heavy items in the boot.

I really do hope that lowering improves the handling, because it looks awful in my opinion.

It doesn't look any lower than mine ... and the back end of mine is stock and on Nivomats.

I think it might be the dark wheels that kill the effect.
