Default FREE DIY DPF delete by software for 2.0D Owners

----This guide is for personal use ONLY , I take no responsebility for damage to you car / ecu or yourself , I have been driving 60000 km with this flashed in my ECU without any problems , but you continue on your own risk -------

I decided that itīs about time that this information got out in the open where it belongs , see it as an early christmas gift from me to all of you

If you are the (un) lucky owner of a DPF equipped S40N/C30/V50 2.0D (PSA engine) with SID803 ECU (without the A , if your is SID803A stop reading)
Then good news , by following this guide your car will be DPF free for ever the correct way. Sorry 1.6D owners I cannot help you.

This requires some soldering skills and that ECU is removed from car and opened (dont be put off by this procedure itīs easy).

You will need :
1. BDM100 interface (ebay/aliexpress whatever you prefer) approx 12-20 Ģ
2. A powersupply able to provide good regulated 12 V and can deliver 2-3 A
3. Good fine tipped soldering iron with good solder and flux.
4. A freeware hex editor (I use HxD)

First step is to remove ECU from car (passenger side wheelarch in UK , driver side rest of Europe)

Open the ECU gently (there are guides on how to all over the net just google)

Download the attached file (rename from .pdf to .zip , had to do this due to size limits) for pictures of BDM/ECU pinout and how to connect BDM100 -> ECU and get busy with soldering iron.

Now double check that the correct wire goes to the correct pin (you could fry the ECU by mixing up 2 wires so be 1000 % sure )

Install the drivers and software for BDM100 and connect ECU to BDM , donīt connect the powersupply to the BDM100 interface as this is for other ECU that can be powered from BDM , since we are powering externally this is not needed.

Start the software (dimsport or whatever the seller supplied) and press connect , and make a full read from you ecu 2-3 times and compare files in hex editor , donīt continue until you have verified 2-3 reads as identical bit by bit matches (this file can also be used to clone/restore your ecu in case it breaks so keep it in a safe place)

Now do the same but this time read only MPC / MPC555 part (this is where we will do the changes).
When you are 100 % sure you have a good read open the mpc file in a hex editor.
You will be changing a lot of 01 to 00.

You need to change the 1 to 0 to the following hex adresses in the file :

4A260 4A262 4A273 4A274 4A28B 4A28C 4A28D 4A28E 4A28F 4A2C8
4A2F2 4A2F3 4A2F5 4A2FC 4A302 4A311 4A31C 4A327 4A35C 4A7FE
4A82E 4A82F 4A855 4A856 62D8F 62DAF

The ones staring with 4 are the error codes for various DPF sensors and triggers , we are disabling to not have DTC:s if you run out of EOLYS , DPS sensor breaks and so on.. The 2 last actually tells the ECU itīs a DPF free version. If some of the adresses already are 00 leave them as they are

When you have changed all the adress from 01 to 00 the save the file with a new file name (eg. dpf_free.mpc or .bin).

Now comes the tricky part , since the program you got from chinese seller in 99% of cases is dimsport you will have to google the net for a different BDM100 program since dimsport s.w cannot correct your file checksum = you car will start , run for 5 sec then shut down, when you find a s.w that has a keygen in polish you have found the correct one (I donīt remember the name but google BDM100 flasher or MPC555 flasher or similar and eventually youīll find it)

When you have found the good s.w with the checksum button in it then connect the ECU to BDM , start the software and connect , choose to upload only MPC part (advanced tab/button) and press write , the program will automaticly correct the checksum for you.

When flashed (5-20 minutes) , connect ECU to car , and fire it up , if it runs for more than 10 sec congratulations job well done , if not try flashing again or pressing correct cheksum button.

If all is well then empty out the DPF and forget that you car ever had one , donīt drive around with a dpf with filter element in it since you will eventually blow your turbo / engine due to too high beckpressure.

Also you will get 1-2 DTC:s for S:W mismatch in ECM and CEM when you read codes with Vida / DICE, this happens with all altered s.w , even from pro tunes , you wonīt get a DTC light and no limp home , just ignore the DTC codes you cannot do anything about it anyway.

Hope this guide helps someone and if it helped you please say thanks
I will also do my best to answer all you questions.

Wow immense stuff!

Do you reckon you could write other software for us?

For example, I don't want my headlights on all the time as it is going to eat expensive high grade lamps. If I put the switch to the 2nd spot then they turn off, leaving only sidelights, but then if you leave them in that position and lock the car up, they stay on without warning!

Hi guys , the functions you are after are stored in the CEM and cluster , the ECM is only responsible for the engine management. The functions you want needs a trip to dealer + adding HW (trip computer stalk). Iīm currently working on solution on how to alter the central config of the car (like the russians did for the MK2/3 Focus which is basically the same car as V50/S40N/C30) , if I manage to crack this I will of course let you know but itīs a big uphill climb as no information can be found online due to obvious reasons , my biggest interest is trying to break the MOST protection allowing us to upgrade our sound system from basic crap to HP but since I donīt have the MOST OFF s.w from volvo it will take long time to figure this out. If someone here has a subscription to VIDA and can get me the MOST OFF and ON s.w to play with this will make thing A LOT easier.

i thought perhaps downloading and comparing a copy from a car with the upgrades on and a car without it might be possible to add the features we want?

Thank you for this information. Unfortunately the attached PDF file seems to be corrupt? My reader doesn't want to open it.
Does someone else have problems with this file?

Excellent advice. My car(20.d 55 plate s40) does not have a DPf but a guy I work with just bought one and its DPF system failed in the first week(2008 s40). He was lucky as the dealer offered him a replacement system or a bin and remap. I advised a bin after reading all about it on here and so he got it binned and a re map for Ģ100 excess on his warranty . I told him he had a good deal.
As for the guy wanting his lights off turning of the DRLs is a regular argument on here. I am staying neutral but the general advice is If you want them to be off unless you operate them than a dealer or vida dice equipped independent can do the job for Ģ50.Its a software patch takes about 1/2 hour. A dealer will make you sign a consent form though so they are not liable if you crash and blame it on the DRLs not being on.
