What battery for 121 Amazon?
Does anyone know exactly what type of battery I need for my Amazon and where is a good place to buy one? All the online outlets seem to believe Volvo only started making cars in the early 1970s!

Critical Parameters are: Nominal Voltage of System (...could be 6V or 12V for your 121, check Owners Manual or by counting number of cells/caps on cells of Bat. 3 for 6V, 6 for 12V) Amp Hr Rating (Product of Current and Time...or Bat Reserve rating...you can push or pull this a bit from the original 60AH specified (for 12V)...depending on operating conditions...for instance, if you are Auto-crossing and you have removed your passenger seat, spare tire, carpet, dieted, and taken all the change from your pocket to save weight, and low weight is you absolute goal, you could install a tiny lightweight motorcycle Bat, and start on a helper Bat, and go racing...but if you are driving to the Nordkap to visit your uncle Olaf in January, you might want to fit the biggest Bat you can physically fit on the shelf in order to have lots of Reserve Starting power!) Physical Size (Bat shelf is generous on an Amazon so will fit just about any reasonable size.) Terminal Type and Locations (Pos and Neg Wires will typically have compression clamps, so the Bat must have the corresponding posts, and Pos and Neg wires are sized so that they will need these posts located on the correct side of the centerline of Bat....otherwise wires will need to be adjusted in length/location.) Did I forget anything? With their lead content, I wouldn't want to ship one and incur those charges!...(OF: Isn't that prohibitively expensive?)...I recommend driving the vehicle to a local Bat supplier, telling them the AH rating you want, then having them match dimensions and term locations to fit. Install with ACZP! Good Hunting Last edited by Ron Kwas; Jul 27th, 2015 at 17:20. |

Hi Ron
Do you mean that 60 Ah was recommended but 70 is fine or even more, I have 70, but the battery fits the shelf only the bracket is a bit short to hold it in place, which is a pain It seems that over here it is very cheap to deliver, I paid about the same as OF and it included delivery. Point taken from previous threads about ACZP Jamie |

Jamie;
...what's 10AH out of 60, among friends? ...of little consequence normally...but a little more reserve for that trip to the Nordkap... Cheers |

Eventually I settled for a 069, although a 072 is pretty nearly the same size. A 068 wouldn't have fitted my car though as the terminals would be the wrong way round. I got it from batterymegauk on ebay and paid £49.95.
