Question How to check if my Volvo has an alarm system?

Hello, recently I bought a second hand Volvo S40 (2004) and I dont know if the car has an alarm system or not. During locking/unlocking it never emits any sound. None of the tests from the owner's manual succeeded to trigger the alarm. However it has this LED on the dashboard (which is never blinking), this button for deactivating some alarm's sensors too. Is there any chance that the Volvo has an alarm but is is malfunctioning and how can I verify this?

I'm pretty sure that all S40s built from Nov 2003 onwards have a Cat 1 alarm as standard.

If it's not working, it's probably because the siren has a fault tilt sensor and has been deactivated

Do the "Panic function" of the remote control has something related to the alarm's siren or is using the car's horn?

Leave the window open, lock the car, and wave your arm inside. You'll soon find out one way or the other if you have one and it's working.

That would be better than throwing a brick through the window
