Default Problem with Indicator Lights on V40

Hello Forum,

I am the new owner of a 1999 1.8 V40 and have spent the first few weeks enjoying what is a otherwise a very pleasant drive. However, just today I noticed that the indicator lights seemed to have stopped working. I have looked in the manual but I cannot figure out which fuse could be causing the problem - the manual simply does not mention a fuse that controls the indicator lights. Also, the lights did come back on temporarily - so I think it might be a wiring problem. Any views on how I should check this out myself before going to my garage? It might be something very easy to fix....

Your response is appreciated,

Nad

Assuming that a 1999 V40 has similar electrics to 2000 S40 - first question - does the seat belt warning work? If not it's the indicator relay in the fuse box by your right foot - it's a pain to get at and I don't know which one it is but replacing it should cure the problem.............

Default Problem with indicator light

Thanks for the response.. yes, the seat belt light works OK..I had a feeling that it might be one of the fuses...the only problem is the manual does not say "indicator lights.." maybe its a fuse that operates other electrics?

With much appreciation,

Nad

In what way do they "not work"? Do you hear the relay click when you activate them? Do the hazard lights work? Might be faulty indicator switch stalk.

Thanks Pete,

No, there is no relay "click" . There is simply no sound when I activate them.

I guess it looks like the really switch?

If the relay clicks when the seatbelt is not engaged but the ignition is on, then the relay is ok.

If the indicators and relay go when the hazard lights are on, then they are ok.

Only leaves the indicator stalk switch....

Default mini spade fuses

there are 2 mini spade fuses which often blow together in the under dash fuse box.please humour me and change all the 10 amp mini spade fuses and tell me if the problem is solved.the fuses cost about 1.50 for 10
