Things that are annoying
So - I love the car but.... some niggly things:
Indicator/wiper stalks - too long. Auto stop start - very annoying in stop start traffic, gets jerky. . Engine switches off at 3-4 mph when slowly coming to a stop. Climate control can't be voice controlled or work as a pair. Heated seats don't switch off automatically with car. Heated seats start from the hottest setting rather than coolest. Car takes too long to get to operating temp - today almost 20 minutes. I'm sure there will be more . But I love it! |

- You can turn it off - its like that on all modern cars now - Yeah you cant sync them but why would you care you only sit in one seat - Yes they don't switch off (unlike on VAG) and that is GOOD! - Shortest warmup of any car I've had (got D4). I'm actually with you all the way - there are a few niggles but its the whole package and the way it makes you feel that makes the difference. FOR example - on my last car (13 plate Passat) there were FIVE controls to operate on a cold morning, heated seats, heated mirrors, heated screen, screen defrost, rear heated screen. On the XC60 its just two - the screen demist is both air and electric, the electric demist is both rear screen and mirrors, the heated seats remember they were on from the night before........... simples. And warm.

This has raised a couple of other queries.
Has anyone checked to see how much difference the stop-start makes to fuel economy? I'm tempted to switch it off all the time. Isn't the stop start function there to reduce emissions (EU regs) rather than improve economy? Assuming the climate control has just one sensor how does it separate the controlled temperature zone if two separate temperatures are set? |

Stop/start cuts local pollution, when the engine is running it burns what it burns regardless whether stop/start is present or not. The official economy figures look better due to part of the test including periods when stop/start activates, no engine running, no fuel consumed.
We had two cars back to back the same model and spec. Over the 3 year period we had each car they reported the same mpg figure of fuel consumed.

OK i'll bite..
- no sight of the media playing when you've got satnav screen on...wish it displayed song/artist etc at the top or something - yes, no option to dual the climate controls, I preferred my c30 controls. Have to changed temperature twice in the '60!! - Cruise control - one press increases by 5mph, long press increments of 1mph...again c30 was the opposite which makes more sense to me (more like the volume control on a tv remote...) - storage behind centre console - don't use it...doesn't have much side bolstering agaaaaain unlike the c30 which could store loads of cd's etc - no auto hold on EPB - bonnet doesn't close tight..theres movement even when closed correctly As you can see these are pretty hyper critical an I'm a self confessed fan boy anyway so not a lot could send me away!!!! |

This is very typical on all cars I've driven with heated seats...mazda's, Mercs, Audi, VW, Ford, Seat etc etc all the same.

The lack of auto hold and awkward position of the EPB are the biggest issues for me. Took me a long time to get used to it after my Passat where the system worked really well. FYI on the Passat the auto hold feature does not utilise the parking brake - there is some other mechanical lock.

You might just need the rubber stops adjusting to get a tighter shut on the bonnet.
