Question Replacing rear sidelight bulbs on S40 52plate

Ok so had one of the bulbs go out last week and thought wow volvo's have 2 sidelight bulbs on both sides, good i can wait till it stops raining to take the blown one out to see what kind it is etc.

However tonight i noticed the other one is away, so effectively no sidelight on the nearside rear. Just noticed as mum was driving away.

So question, how do i get to the bulbs, as i had a look and it wasnt obvious and secondly what bulbs are they so i can pick them up at a motorfactors tomorrow.

Thanks

Default replacing side light bulbs

are you refering to the marker lights on the bumper??

replacing marker light bulbs, for year 2000 onwards, pre 2000 are sealed units.

carefully push the light rearwards and unhook the front end of the light from the bumper, the bulb is 4 watt

The ones in the light cluster at the back which sit in line with the top of the boot.

In my experience its best to replace both bulbs in the cluster if one bulb blows as it seems to put extra stress on the other bulb.
I spent one time constantly replacing the bulbs in a rotation effect ie left bulb, right bulb, left bulb etc this stopped when both bulbs replaced.

5W bulbs Bayonet 15s according to my 1998 manual,
Not sure if on the later S40s to change the bulbs you have to undo the plastic screw on the side trim at the boot opening to gain access to the bulbs. It changed on the later models.

Cool well the rain stopped just as my mum got back so went out and whipped out the lights!

12V5WR5W

Whats the R5W stand for anyone know?

Also notice that there is a space for a second rear fog light. as only one is installed and the cutout is uncutout! Worth adding a second?

Ok well just got 4 new bulbs for 75p! @ TMS Motorsport Ayr. Just need to wait till the volvo's back from work and i'll fit them and that'll be that, think i'll leave the dual fog converstion just now as cant be bothered messing about with the wiring etc in the volvo as i do that enough in mine. A Bravo HGT 155.

Also anyone know the bhp of the:

Sept 2003 Volvo S40 2.0 TS and what the S stands for? Dont worry i know what the T stands for
