Default HU-650 to HU-850

Is swaping the hu-650 over to a hu-850 a straight forward swap? or does the car have to be re-porgrammed etc?

Be interested to know the answer to this one myself.

Am thinking of at minimum a pro-logic upgrade but am also considering of an RTI / double din conversion

Is there a list of all of the HU available ?

What's with this "bump" thing! am I missing something! Seen it a few times in a few posts now!
Only common factor is that it's in a thread started by a relativly new member,
but I still don't get the "bump"!

People "Bump" a topic because over time, if there are no replies, the topic goes down the page, and to the next page, so on to the point that it gets "lost" and no one sees it.

Some people are of the opinion that they should "Bump up" their topic to keep it seen, to make sure all forum users have seen or will see it.

Personally, on this forum I see little point, as a number of people (myself included) habbitually dredge through their "Unread" posts (mine being 20 pages long again!) do that they will see the topic eventually.

Des. . .

I have heard rumblings that the individual head unit types are coded to the car, hence no need for radio codes any more. So swapping like for like is ok, but changing model is not. May require a trip to the dealer and some software downloads. Dont take this a gospel though.

No, that's fine by me, it was so obvious I didn't understand what it was about! "BUMP" obviously wasn't a good enough clue!

Ok I thought I will post here regarding my experiance with the attempted upgrade since few people asked about it.

The HU 850 only has the Green connector at the back, you do require the AMP for the sound to work. In my instance this upgrade didn't work becasue the stero facia I got is for the newer model S60 I think 2004 and newer, my model is 2003. The problem is there is there is a grove around the the facia where in the newer model cars, a trim inserted.

So I am stuck with a Hu-850 and no way to fit it. Can the trim be bought seperately?

Recess along the edge
