Unhappy Bluetooth pairing problem

Help needed!

I have a 2008 S80 D5 SE with the Bluetooth phone kit option. I have a Blackberry Curve 8310 Smartphone which just will not pair with the car. The phone finds the car but the car won't find the phone!
Bluetooth is activated on the phone as is the 'detect' mode. Other phones can find and pair with the Blackberry alright and other phones connect with the car alright. This implies that both car and phone have bluetooth working OK, they just wont talk to each other!
I can understand that if the car kit doesn't support this particular phone, the phone book may not transfer, but surely it should at least pair via bluetooth for a phone connection?

Any ideas?

There is a download on this page which lists different moblies and any know problems, there seems to be a known issue with pairing a Blackberry.

I use a HTC TyTN II Smartphone and it works well (most of the time), sometime the sound doesn't work after you've made a previous call.

So its far from perfect and looking at the list it shows just how many issue there is with the built-in Bluetooth system.

Just found this http://www.volvocars.com/intl/salesa...s/default.aspx which is easier to use than the download document, your BlackBerry 8310 will work (or so it says), you have to:-

1. While on the main screen select "Settings" and then "Options"
2. Select "Bluetooth" and press the navigation ball-button – a menu should appear
3. Select "Enable Bluetooth" from the menu and press the ball-button again
4. Select "Add Device" from the menu
5. From the list of devices select "My Car"
6. Enter code "1234" and confirm
7. Confirm all subsequent pop-up messages

It seems like you have to do it the opposite way around to me, i.e. pair the phone to the car and not the car to the phone.

Paul,

I had this issue too (I have a BB8300) and after searching around a bit, found the solution. The phone then works all OK !

Thumbs up Bluetooth pairing problem

Thanks to the tip off about BlackBerry pairing via this forum I now have everything working fine.

The problem isn't with the Volvo system, it's the BlackBerry at fault and by downloading the 'Bluetooth Pairing Helper' software from the BB website onto the device, it all now works!

This may help anyone with a similar problem to overcome the frustration! For info it seems that Jaguar, Land Rover, Volvo and Audi all have an issue with the pairing capabilities of BlackBerry devices.

Default That is good news...

I have found mine works brilliantly - great to hear your setup is sorted now.

The only issue I have is when recording a voice note. I have to unpair the BB first as otherwise no sound is recorded !

Oh well - it is easy to reconnect again (one button push).
