V40 Passenger seat height adjustment
My V40 has no height adjustment for the passenger seat and my wife has always found it on the low side. Reading through the handbook, I see that the height can be altered by the dealer if necessary.
I can see how the height can be adjusted but not exactly how to do it but I don't recall seeing anything in the Haynes manual. I suspect the seat may have to come out but I'm reluctant to mess around without knowing exactly how to do it, principally because the seat is fitted with airbags. Can anybody shed any light please? Many thanks Martin |

Don't know if this is any help but.......my seats have two plastic levers on the side, the front for angle and the rear for height. My wife has recently given birth so for the last few months she's been as high as it will go.to get the seat higher you have to pull the second lever whilst pulling up on the back of the seat.I'm assuming most of the seats to be the same in principle,if not a handbook covering your model should explain the process.

Thanks for your replies. On my 2002 V40S, (the 'hair shirt' model) a height adjustable passenger seat was a factory fitted optional extra which the original owner chose not to order. The driver's seat is, of course, fully adjustable in the usual manner with the two levers described.
I believe adjusting the height involves removing the seat entirely and using an alternative set of fixing points to attach it to the runners and then putting it all back again. For interest, my local dealer has quoted £85 + VAT to do the job. Martin |

There are three sets of holes front and back on the passenger seat to raise or lower . The default position is centre , so you can raise or lower the front or back to suit .. Its best to take the seat out then you can see what you are doing ...

Back in August 2009 you gave some valuable advice on how to adjust the passenger seat up and down on a V40. Mine is very low and I want to raise it. Can it be done with the seat in situ and if not, do you have to disable the seat airbags/belt tightening mech etc? The car is a 2003 model - Bifuel. Cheers Avroflyer1 |
