Default Ford retrofit DPF's prices makes Volvo look like bandits

Yes I've been googling again, and look what I found

Ford of Germany offers retrofit diesel particulate filters for just 133.33 euros

That would be £141.40 with 15% VAT applied here in the UK for the supply of the filter

Quote:
Ford has launched a campaign to retrofit diesel vehicles in Germany with diesel particulate filters (DPF) for a very attractive price: just €133.33 (plus installation and 19 percent VAT). This measure complements the German Federal government incentive to retrofit DPFs. Eligible cars are those that are subject to Euro III and Euro IV antipollution rules, and the ones that can benefit from this attractive price are the Fiesta, the Fusion, the Focus, the C-MAX, the Galaxy, the Mondeo, the Transit Connect and the Tourneo Ford Connect. Retrofitting DPFs is an important change in Germany, as many cities are banning diesel vehicles without DPFs from city centers and diesel owners face the threat of an additional road tax of €1.2 per 0.1 liter of engine displacement if their car doesn't have a DPF.
Now it's fair to say those will most likely be the filters that don't need replacing at the 72K service at the extortionate price of £550+ nor will they need additive top ups at circa £100 every three years at the 36K service............

Ford for the masses, Volvo for those who appreciate quality, safety and like to stand out a little.

£500 + for DPF change is a joke however.

Incidentally, has anyone serviced their S40/V50's at a Ford Dealer?

Yes. I had my S40 2.0D, 08 model, serviced at my local Ford dealer for its 12,000 mile service. The Ford Dealer charged £145 compared to my Volvo dealers £295. All the appropriate parts were used and the warranty is valid, it is a lease car so this is critical.

I am now up to 22,000 miles and the next service will be due in November. I will be using the Ford dealer again. (incidentally I presume you mentioned a Ford dealer for the same reason that I used one, the links between the Focus and the S40) 22,000 miles in and my car has not given me a moments trouble.

Yes that is on hell of an expensive service no matter where you go. And there is no way you can get around having the particulate filter and additive top up done anywhere else, because of the needed ECU management reset.

In fact it was mainly why I did a deal to sell the S40 yesterday, and to buy a Focus for the wife. Because if I was going to stuff another £800 or more into the S40, there was no way I was selling it after that.

Obviously with Ford and Volvo sharing engines, Focus owners have fallen foul of the expensive DPF http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/forum/po...ex.htm?t=74278

And a driving instructor finds out to late about the dreaded DPF, but warns another unsuspecting punter I just found a well priced ford focus 2005 1.6 TDCi
