Exclamation Noise from ABS

Hi Guys,
I have an 06 V50 1.8s with 19000 miles. I have had this car for only a few months. I got the car from the main Volvo dealer in Edinburgh.
I am hearing a noise from under the front of the car when I move off after about 20 to 50 yards. It sounds like a "twanging low note" and is quiet loud. It happens every time I move off.
I have had the car back to the dealer as I have a full one year used car warranty. The dealer has told me the noise is from the ABS and is in fact the ABS "self testing", they have also told me it's nothing to worry about as it's a normal function of the car.
I'm not convinced. I know someone who has the same car as mine and about the same age. When I told him about my "noise" he confirmed his car made no such sound. He advised me to ask you guys for advice.

Cheers Dave

My 05 S40 does it never knew what it was though, thought it was something to do with the aircon, sounds like a metal flap clanging shut on mine.

It should only happen once per engine start. So if you just stop without turning the engine off, then drive on, there should be no ABS self testing noise.

If you stop and turn the engine off then expect to hear it the next time you start the engine and reach 15 mph.

Try approaching that speed slowly the next time and see if it affect the loudness of the ABS self testing mechanism.
