diagnostic check this morning at my local volvo specialist, revealed the 02 sensor is u/s.
volvo part number is 30814907. they quoted me with vat £191.54,and being a volvo specialist said use genuine parts, which they would. i am looking at aftermarket or o/e spec sensors. any thoughts on this? |

.....they have also got the price wrong maybe because the part number is wrong...it must be for another model as they are different..also that must be for fitting as well..... ......i had a lot of trouble when i had my 960 model, a garage fitted a Universal type, it cost me over £120 fitted and was no good took it back they fitted a Bosch one and said that is ok now they charged another £50 as it was a dearer sensor, still no good......i then went to Volvo booked it in ...in the meantime 10miles to the gallon and after three weeks of this i was then raving......Volvo fixed it with the correct sensors front and rear and charged me over £400.......i got some of my money back from the crap garage......So i have learned the hard way and only pass on my experiences.......every one can do as they please, but if you don`y buy Volvo parts don`t expect the best service or performance from the parts.....ok so some things are expensive but you won`t need another O2 sensor for at least another 100000mls unless you change your car again.......you can bite the dust and get the dearer one or get the cheaper one and chance paying again in 6 months time because that is all a cheap one will last ......it`s entirely up to the individual....by the way the blue box is the rear sensor and it`s part number... .....A quote from a manufacturer... "Cheap universal sensors leave out some of these fine finishing processes in order to reduce the amount of time to manufacture, and thus reduce costs. The result is a sensor that may work for a short time, but cause more problems within six months time. The only way to be sure you will have no problems in the future is to fit an OE spec sensor from Lambdapower. Buying a cheap sensor is ultimately a false economy."
