Default Snapped thermistor in ECC unit.

I am looking for a NTC Thermistor that sits behind the little vent in a Volvo 2004 S60 Electronic climate control unit.

I was cleaning and pulled/snapped mine...

It is probably one of these
http://www.made-in-china.com/showroo...Type-MJB-.html

But the resistances could be well out...

I have just brought a S80 unit of the same age (2004) from ebay, it looks identical although I have a S60????? Are they???

I am planning to just desolder the old and the new one across to avoiding any coding issues with the ECC as I think they are locked to the car???? (2004 model).

Any help really appreciated...

It is the little sensor that sits behind the three little vents in the ECC unit.

What you could do is buy a secondhand ECC unit with a good sensor remove the sensor from it and solder it into your damaged unit.

While it's out you could perhaps identify the part and obtain a spare in case it happens again.

UK source here:

Any colours left on the old one for a clue as to value required?

That maplin link is very interesting. When I unsolder it, I will measure it at different temperatures and try and work it out. Shame it has to be measured out of circuit... I do see a little red on the old one.. So assuming it is red, it has to be the 4k7 one?????

May get one from maplin and give it a go..

Thanks for the link.

Another one here:

and here:

Not sure which, if any, will be correct but not too expensive to experiment.

and some maths:

Right... I have been measuring....

These are very estimate as I have no proper temperature guide, but I am getting...

In the fridge by the chilling element = 20k
Outside tonight about 15 Celsius = 14k
In my kitchen, very warm est 22 Celsius = 10k
Against my body est 28 Celsius? = 8k
8" above a near boiling kettle = 2k

So, am I anywhere near working out which value out of the 4 maplin ones I the volvo ECC uses???

You might want to try this one too from CPC (Farnell)

http://cpc.farnell.com/jsp/level5/mo...cpc/265378.xml

Whilst they're only 39p each the shipping (free on orders of £45+) might be a bit out! They do have a limited trade counter - so that could be an option.

It is definitely the one Chris has posted, they are used in BMW's units, and after some googling it is identical physically....

I think I have found my precious... xx
