Greetings, I've recently purchased for my '02 Cross Country, a Volvo 2" square profile tow bar, and am having a problem locating a plug that corresponds to the socket on the trailer wiring harness(Volvo part #9499587-5) The connector resembles the type of connector used here in the States for tractor trailers, being about 2" dia. with six round contacts encircling a center contact, but three are male (One o'clock, center and seven o'clock) and four are female. Is this a standard European type of connector? Does it have an industry standard designation? Are corresponding plugs available in the UK that will allow me to wire up my trailer to fit the tow bar? Thanks in advance, for any help. My e-mail address is: pgfaini@shelby.net

HI,

This sounds like the standard seven pin european trailer connector.

Have a look at http://www.towsure.com/ go to towing electrics and click on view products plugs and sockets. The plug you need sounds like the 7-pin N plug which starts at princely sum of $1.61.

Happy towing

Chris :-)
