Morning all,

Does anyone here live near Rake, Hampshire GU33?

If so, would you be willing to go and view a car for me to give it a once over?

I'm considering buying a 1999 V70 T5 and would like to know whether or not it is worth me either travelling down to see it or if it's worth paying for an inspection. Obviously I don't want to travel or pay for an inspection if it is a complete dog but the only way I'll know it's a complete dog is if someone can give it a quick once over.

If there is anyone with a good mechanical knowlege then all the better. I may not need to pay for an inspection then.

Obviously I'll cover your expenses and include a couple of pints too.

Thanks for the reply. Having spoken to the previous (and only) owner, and done a little research, I think the car is probably OK. I have a fairly vivid picture of its condition and am going to go for a professional inspection on the car.

My main reason for wanting someone to look at it was so that I didn't waste £250 on an inspection that should never have taken place because the car was a dog. However, the car sounds fine and everything told to me by the dealer was backed up by the previous owner. Of course, they could be colluding but I think this unlikely.

Thanks again for the offer but I think the car sounds OK so I wouldn't want to waste your time sending you there when I suspect it's fine.

Unless of course you are a mechanic (or mechanically minded) and could do a full inspection for less than the specialist companies.
