I am considering entering my 1987 340 DL CVT into the BKV. It has done genuine 17500 miles and has a FVSH until 2004 with all the documentation. Do you just pitch up on the day with the car or do you have to book it in several days before the event. What do they look for in a car for an award?

If you are a VOC member then look in the new "Driver" on pages 6 & 7. For entering your car in the BKV itself, check with your register keeper (300/66/340-CVT series), Ted Brown, whose contact details are in the "Driver".

All the best, Peter.

The more the merrier - when you get there, you'll be asked if you want to enter, so do so please.

The modified and performance boys often do this - drive down for a look and end up as an exhibit which gives you a central parking space and an incentive to clean the machine.

Obviously, you won't stand a chance against the hard-core concours exhibitors who have been trailing their cars to the event (you know who you are...) and clean the air inside the tyres, but it's still excellent fun.

Make sure you have minimum rubbish inside the car and if you have original Volvo handbooks, toolkits etc. bring them along and spread them out on the boot floor.

Concours vehicles are supposed to be original and well presented; you'll see all levels of presentation from the quick wash to the level of effort described above.

It'll also give you an opportunity to compare notes with other 300 owners which could save you many pounds and much aggro in future.

Ill be there with my rusty pos 945 that will get no points even if i clean the hell out of it (so i might just not bother washing it at all and turn up looking like ive done the rac rally...).
Anyway, see you all about. Im ready to come last in the modded class again lol.

Hi, nice to see the sit is now working, well done to whoever fixed the problem.

In addition to the stock i will be taking to the national BKV, i will be taking a considerable amount of free and very very low priced genuine parts.
I have just bought out the stock from an agent who lost their franchise. A considerable amount is gaskets and small parts, this will be free to a good home. There is also a box of trims amongst hundreds of other various parts, these will be sold at very low prices. The stock ranges from 200 series bumper corner trims and 900 series door trims to canisters of air con gas, windscreen trims (300 series) and many other unknown items.
A few sets of brake pads, some service parts and various etc etc etc.
ALL genuine parts, All free or very low priced.

SEE YA THERE.

Keith.

Just a note for those further afield, that Ryanair have a EUR 57 ( £ 38) fare on June 12 Dublin - Birmingham - Dublin flight. It arrives in Birmingham 0735 and you leave at 2135. Budget do a car ( not a Volvo :-( ) for £31 for the day. If you can't get to BKV with your car, try the low fare operators. See you all there.
