Thanks for all the advise so far.

I collect my '52 V40 1.9 DS today, with winter pack.

I stuck to my guns, and held out for a diesel, I let that lovely example of a V70 go, didn't fancy the fuel bills.

Jumping on a trian to Glasgow at lunch time and coming straight back throught Edinburgh in my new (to me) car!

Huge relief to be rid of the Prius and back in a diesel.

Any tips?

Yeah, relax and enjoy a proper car again, I've had my V40 for five years now and it has NEVER let me down, it is comfy, spacious and for a 1.6ltr quite nippy, all in all a very practical car.

Enjoy your new "proper" car. I personally dont see the point in cars like the Prius. Petrol or diesel is the way, not silly electric.
