Not sure about the engine .... usual stuff like the DMF clutch etc...

Car itself, essentially sound but the odd electrical niggle (switches and sensors going) nothing major though.

Bushes can wear according to the fellas over at the Focus ST forum - but they will probably be driving theirs a bit harder than you do yours.

yes got an S40 T5

had it 3 years and about 30k miles.... it's done 57k now.

Some minor issues, clutch sensor, stiff gearchange in the cold (cured by oil upgrade), filler cap relay, loose door connector resulting in a 'dead' door - easily fixed by plugging it back in!

mechanically, it's been fine - and parts are reasonably priced.

It's the kind of car that grows on your over time - it's refined, relaxing, but won't set your world on fire unless you Mod it.

a T5 would be about £500-700 a year extra on fuel + road tax... you can pick em up for crazy prices like the 2.0D

Although... £700 a year is a fair bit extra so I could understand you're looking for a diesel! which should be pretty handy esp if you get it remapped.

i did look at the remaps and the 2.0d would boost from 136 to around 170 which would be plenty for me :D , if you hear of anyone selling a s40 let me know cheers

All remaps are usually rather optimistic....

In reality you'd have a 160ish bhp Volvo which could keep pace with the likes of a 185bhp 320d (due to it's heavier kerb weight) and be plenty fast enough for general use.

I'll keep my eye out!
