Check the plugs are clean and gapped properly.

Try swapping the coil packs from 2+3 to 1+4 and vice-versa - see if the issue moves.

You say the AA bod said the issue was a coil pack, but then also say that the leads were changed .. Which leads?

That does not make any sense at all, coil packs dont have HT leads, certainly not on volvo engines, another thing is i thought the 2.0 laguna engine was from Peugeot/Citroen.

Right so u have 2 coils not coil packs, physically move the wireing from coil that runs 1+4 to the one that runs 2+3 should just be plugged in, and see if the problem moves to cylinders 1+4 if it does the chances are its the coil knackered

when i swap the wireing from the right hand coil black plug to the left hand coil white plug the car wont start but if i swap the leads 1 and 4 over 2 the left hand one now with the black plug in it starts if i swap the black plug back to the correct right hand one and put leads 1 and 4 back over to this one it starts but still no 2 and 3 i hope you see what i mean

so that tells me the coil is working, so therefore there is either a problem with the wireing to the coil, a fuse has blown or a relay problem.
The test u have done is correct as the black plug will only power 1+4 cylinder, there will be a problem on the white plug system somewhere that wireing powers cylinders 2+3

the thing is when i take the lead off 2 or 3 and put a spare spark plug on there is a spark there someone else had said maby the valves have blown in 2 and 3 please tell me this is unlikely thanks

in that case is there fuel getting to cylinders 2+3? if yes then i would suggest a compression test

Sep 7th, 2011, 15:02
in that case have u got a petrol leak at the injectors?

magiczig
