My 2005 V70 T5 has 225x45x17 Standard. I have the opportunity of replacing my wheels with 18" genuine pegs from a V70R I will be getting fitted with new tyres 225x40x18. Will I have any problems with fitting these wheels to my T5, will they rub. I appreciate the running will be harder, other than looks would there be any benefits. Has anybody got any good advice to give me. Should I go for it. I think the V70 looks great with 18" pegs. I will be keeping my existing wheels in store.
All help appreciated.

Can't see them rubbing as your just reducing the profile size of the wall of the tyre by changing from 17" to 18".

However, maybe getting some wheel spacers to widen the track of the car could give it a more mean stance look?

Oh, you should sell the tyres on the 17" wheels and get snow tyres instead and keep them as winter season wheels

you'd be better off selling the 17"s complete and getting steel wheels to fit winter tyres on if thats what you want.

steel wheels survive the salt better, plus if you do slide into a kerb steel wheels only tend to bend and can be hammered straight, alloys tend to break and are much harder to repair if they do buckle.

Would be keeping the 17" in store. Never use the T5 in snow we use are other car. Just done a tyre check size and was surprised to see that moving from 225x45x17 to 225x40x18 only increases the running dia by 3mm well within the reccommended dia for the T5. Anybody out there running 18" on a V70 and how hard are they compared to the 17", or is the difference that small it will be difficult to tell the difference in running. I understand they are standard on the V70R 2005 2006.

Just telephoned my Insurers AVIVA. OK so due to my age my premium is very low for the T5. £235 per annum. If I do an upgrade to wheels from 17" to 18" I will have to pay an extra £46 on my premium as it is classed as an upgrade and a notifiable item. In other words if I don't notify them my insurance could be void. Intersting situation as the underighters check the original manuafacturer supplied V70T5 and what wheels are supplied. Just goes to show what insurers will do to get extra cash into their gritty hands. Not sure if its worth the upgrade for £46.00. Bet with 18" wheels if I return to 17" they will not reduce premium by £46.00. There having a laugh!!!!!!!

18 inch gen pegs are very desirable and cost a small fortune even 2nd hand so if you don't like them selling them on is not going to be a problem. Interesting your insurance takes such a stance as I regulary change the type of alloys I run on my cars and have no issues with the insurance. I do have a fair amount of modifications so changing the alloys is not an issue for them.

When your insurance is up for renewal try some of the more specialists insurances they may not load your policy.
