Hi

I'm new to this but I hope somebody can help. I have a 2002 2.0L V40 regularly serviced. It runs very nicely and uses no oil or water. When I start it from cold it starts as 'sweet as a nut' but after warming up and a need to start it again, it starts well but the start is followed by a disturbing, fairly loud, metalic rattle. If I start it with my foot on the clutch it starts as normal. This has only recently happened.

Help please

I think you really need to isolate were the "rattle" is coming from to give us a better clue............but my first guess would be the exhaust system....either loose pipe or bracket.

loose heatshield under the car, in the bonnet,,
as well as lovejoy's loose exhaust / bracket/broken/iffy doobery somewhere on the underside.

Bank on it being Just out of reach unless you have a 2post lift,...and rusted to beggery n then some,, and siezed solid ,,

Gearbox Chatter maybe? as the oil will be warmer and the noise disapears when starting with foot on clutch, or am i miss reading?
