Hi, I have just been advised by the seller of a high mileage (more than 150k) V70 2.4T CD that the "air con unit leaks."

I do not know what this means and I was planning to travel the 350 miles to view and purchase the car next week!

what do I need to ask the seller?
with the air con still work?

is it likely to be able to be fixed?
or will the unit need replacing?

any idea of costs?!

thanks for all your advice so far and keep up the good work!

Hi,

Would be worth asking the owner which particular bit of the AirCon it is that is leaking! Pump, pipes, compressor, condenser, evaporator, accumulator.
How does he know he has a leak as most AirCon systems will loose refrigerant over time (usually a couple of/few years) particularly when not used regularly.

A known leak point would be the condenser as it is positioned in front of the car and can be hit by road stones etc and thus puncturing it. Look at about £80 - £120 for this little item.
A regas will cost £50 - £70. Make sure to add dye so further leaks can be traced.

Des. . . ;)
