Hi again. I have been trying to polish out some scratches on door glass on my 144. With some lateral thinking would it be easier to fill the scratches with some resin product and then polish them smooth. Are there any products on the market which would do that job?

I dunno, when I worked with a bloke fitting screens you could get a powder polish that goes on a drill buffer and removes scratches of glass,

In fact I used to use it a lot, it also got the etching off the glass ie numberplates ;)

What you need is jewellers rouge, depending on how deep the scratches are will determine how long you need to rub for. By hand is the best way as you can concentrate the rubbing using say one finger.

Forgot to mention....if its the door glass, its less of a hassle, as its toughened, hence softer and easier to polish out scratches.

Their is some specilist firms that polish out scratches on glass but they tend to concentrate on big shop windows and its that time consuming the bill would probably out weigh the cost of replacement on a car side window.
I repair chips and cracks on screens and i always reccomend replacement with scratches on the screen and would never tell a customer to get a scratch polished out of a screen as this would deform and weaken the screen but a side window could be polished but as i said the cost.

Yep, Cerium Oxide is what you need, or you could try diamond paste.

This guy sells small quantities of Cerium Oxide (10g for £1.87 posted)
