I do a lot of night time motorway driving and was wondering if it was possible to get cruise control fitted to a 440. If so, does anybody have any idea roughly how much, Where I might get it fitted, and whether it greatly affects fuel economy? Any or all of these answers much appreciated. Ta.

Hi.

I had cruise control retro fitted to my old 440 2.0i SE.
It cost about £480 fitted (2 years or so ago) and it was a fantastic boon.
Go to your Volvo dealer and they SHOULD be able to quote you an all inclusive price for the system, as it is an accessory listed in their catalogue as a dealer fit option.

Bear in mind if your car is the 1.8 with the B18U engine, for some reason they can't fit it to that engine. Diesels may be a problem too, but you would have to ask and verify that yourself.

Fuel economy tends to be better whilst the cruise is active, as it can control the throttle far more accurately than your foot.
Other than that it doesn't realy affect fuel economy one way or the other.

Hope that helps...
Dan.

I looked at fitting cruise to my T5 but still haven't got around to it. Here's a couple of links for diy cruise kits, hope you find them useful.

Yes, that is the one to which I refer. They only ever did a 1.8 in SPi.

Cheers,
Dan.
