What is the japanifold and what is so special about it?

It's an ME7 exhaust manifold, from the V and S70R cars Volvo produced, they flow better and are less prone to cracking due to excessive heat, port one out and it'll flow as well as an S60/V70R manifold, but cost a **** load less.

Can also be found on Me7 T5's and 2.0 T's. Easiest is to do a google image search to get the part number then ask a breaker for a manifold with that p/n.

Be careful, I've heard that some Me7 C70 turbo cars didn't get the japanifold.

PS an early V50 T5 gasket will fit and is better (1 piece) and cheaper.

I don't have the part number to hand, perhaps charlotte can help with that, but when I bought mine about a month ago it was £4.50

Sorry to jump in but the one piece gasket is P/N 8699467 i don`t know the price.

Was this gasket a simple fit and where all the ports the same shape as the older engines?

The one piece gasket was very simple to fit, there is a tab at the end needed cutting off to fit round the water pipe at the rear otherwise everything lines up nicely. The V50 T5 gasket is also made of metal so watch your fingers

it's not that difficult to fit the proper exhaust manifold gaskets, i put a little grease on the gaskets so they then stick to the head giving you time to position and fit the exhaust manifold.
