"Pulling to the left"

I have a 440GL 1700cc 1990 78K
When I drive the car,if I take my hands off the steering wheel the car vears to the left.
When I go over potholes there is a clonking noise from the front of the car.
I've had the car in the garage and the tracking,tyre pressure and brakes are all ok.
They say they can't find anything and all they can do is replace parts
until they get it right. Can anyone help i.e. which parts?

I know the feeling, my 440 does the same and i have had everything checked over!

I might sound strange but i found the more air in the front two tyres the better( of course not so they blow up!):hissyfit:

But it did help a little, apart from that mate, like me you will have to get used to driving at quarter lock right, he he he:Banane35:

ITS YOUR ALIGNMENT. YOU WHEELS ARNT ALLIGNED TO UR STEELING WHEEL. VERY COMMON. GO TO A TYRE PLACE AND HAVE IT DONE TAKES ANYTHING FROM 5mins TO 1HOUR

4 wheel tracking wouldn't go a miss.

However all cars should pull to the left by design - or more accurately the design of the road. The camber is not just for water runoff but to ensure when ya fall alseep behind the wheel the car will always veer to the left rather than onto oncoming traffic.

If the garage has checked it out and can't find anything wrong - then it could just be the camber - but I'm gussing it's much more apparent than this?

the clonking could be a number of things and I wouldn't like to guess.

I have just recently put a new tire on the fornt near side of my 460 it would seam that it now pulls quite hard to the left , of corse i might not have notised it befor the tire was changed ?????

I believe this is due to the mounting of the pan hard rod, if it was mounted the other way the car would veer to the right... Or at least fight the natural camber of most roads! It's not a problem as such and just a trait...

Anti-roll bar side link requires replacing or front suspension lower balljoint requires replacing more than likely.

If it's the lower balljoint , then this may explain the left drift.
If not, then it could be the lower arm inner bush(s) ie the 2 which bolt onto the chassis leg.
You state that the brakes have been checked, well it cannot be a siezed caliper or seized guide pins on either side.
A siezed right hand caliper (and or including guide pins) will result in left hand pull as the servo takes up any slack in the pads to disc space and applies slight pressure to the left hand disc as you drive.

My car ended up veering slightly to the left. It was a 1990 440 GLT. The problem was the left hand rear engine chassis mount had disintegrated. Rusty 16 year old. Good old corrosion.
