Hi,

I've been assured by Volvo in Hersham, Surrey that what I've described below is "normal". I'm looking for feedback and advice as I'm currently sat at 51k miles and expect to pass the big 60k by end of April and need re-assurance before its too late.

If I'm coasting at 20 to 30 mph and back off of the throttle I can hear a gently knock in the drive chain. If I then press the accelerator I hear another knock where the slack has been taken up in the drive train. If I reapeat this every few seconds you can really hear the slack.

Has anyone else found this. Is it really normal?. Its been doing it for the past 20k - 30k miles but does seem to be getting worse but only slightly.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Thx
Bozza

This sounds like the problem listed on an old service sheet before I owned the car. To quote......

CHECK KNOCK FROM FRONT POSS D/SHAFT
REMOVED DRIVE SHAFTS FROM HUBS, CLEANED SURFACE FACES
RESECURED AND LOCTITED INTO POSTITION
RESET HUB TORQUE
REPLACED ENGINE TOP MOUNT (SPLITTING)

The car is fine and knock free.

Hope this helps.
