erraticaly idle running 440 1.8i 1995

Hi there,

I just purchased a 1995 440 1.8i a few weeks ago. it has 210000km on it. The car drives both on gas and LPG.

When driving the car runs real smooth.
Running at idle is much less smooth, on both gas and LPG. it runs idle at approx 1000rpm, which I think is normal. But it doesnt idle smoothly, it is rather erraticaly idling. There revs remain constant.

Any of you guys have some advice?

I think you are describing the faulty idle control motor problem.
The injection unit on the B18U engine has a stepper motor that controls the idle speed and that needs replacing when it gets to this stage.

Would that be the answer to the very low and lumpy idle speed when cold on my '92 480 Turbo? Or is that something far more expensive!
