Earth strap on Ignition

Hi all,

I am asking this for my Friend who has a 480es 87my. His Earthing strap that is connected to the ignition Coil doesn't seem to be connected to anywhere. So could someone please tell where it should reside on the engine ?

Problem solved for you. The earth strap connects to the coil mounting bracket at one end, and should be secured under the distributor cap mounting screw. Look directly at the cap from the passenger side of the car, you'll see the 3 screws on the dizzy cap in a triangle, two at the top, & one at the bottom. Connect the lead to the top right one. Very often it gets left off when the cap and/or rotor arm has been changed. Hope this solves your problem
