A serious security issue has been announced with MS Internet Explorer (yes, I know it is not the first, nor the last).

Read THIS (http://www.microsoftforums.org/forums/showthread.php?p=150#post150) to find out more about the issue and about the fix due out on April 11.

One of Microsoft's security updates from the regularly scheduled security patch release last week can break Microsoft Office applications, causing them to crash whenever they try to display standard Open or Save dialog boxes. The security update also causes problems with Internet Explorer in some cases, Microsoft says.

Though Microsoft says the scope of the problem is limited, the company did publish a workaround (http://blogs.technet.com/msrc/archive/2006/04/15/425311.aspx) on its security blog which involves editing the Registry.

This is the possible workaround:

- (If you have multiple user accounts set up) Log onto the computer using an account with Administrator privileges
- Click the Start button, then click Run and type "regedit" at the prompt, without the quotes; this will start Registry Editor
- Locate the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Shell Extensions\Cached key in Registry Editor
- Right click on the key and select New / DWORD Value
- Rename the resulting value "{A4DF5659-0801-4A60-9607-1C48695EFDA9}{000214E6-0000-0000-C000-000000000046} 0x401", without the quotes
- Right click the value, select Modify, and type "1" into the Value Data field
- Close Registry Editor

Don't try this if you are not confident to do so, you might end up doing more damage. If you do, backup the Registry first.
