203kph, or 126mph. Measured on GPS.

I was driving back home on an empty autobahn last night, and decided to see what it would do.

190kph is completely solid, at 200 it got light at the front and required quite a lot more steering input to keep in a straight line.

It was still accelerating very, very slowly - but I ran out of road, so 203 was the max. At vMax the OBC was showing around 5-7mpg :)

(D5, euro 4, 6 speed auto, polestar ECU).

My 2004 XC90 SE D5 will do about 120mph flat out according to the speedo. Not sure how accurate it is ...

My speedo was over reading by about 5mph at vMax.

Thats interesting. VIDA reports that my speed limiter kicks in at 130mph, not that the car is fast enough to reach that!

Is yours a UK market car?

EDIT: Just seen that yours is CA market, mine is EURO market. I guess its down to DoT regs.

Jez, thats brave. Anything over 80mph in my thing is an adventure. Our other car is a forester turbo, stable at any speed. IMO, XC90 is defo not a car to be driven over the speed limits...Volvo pride themselves on safety etc, but more likely to get you in trouble than your average saloon.

i dont see a problem myself, my XC90 T6 produced approx 380bhp and was fine at 145+mph very stable for a big old 4x4.

Altho thinking about it the suspension maybe slightly firmer on the T6 models

TBH, if thats how your XC90 feels at speed, I'd get it checked out, tyre wear, 4 wheel geometry and suspension ... these are rock solid cars at seriously silly speeds, and if its not something is wrong.

Have to agree with the above. Our XC90 is very stable at high speeds. If yours isn't I get it checked out because it should be rock solid ..

Agreed, like I said in my OP - at 190kph (118mph) it felt the same as if I were doing 70mph (the lights just went by the window quicker :lightbulb:).

You only really started to notice a difference at 200+, when the tendency to wander around a bit increased.

If it werent for the fuel consumption, id happily sit at 100+mph all day in mine.

The other thing to check of course is the speed rating on your tyres. Mine are Conti Cross Contact UHP, good for 170+mph:thumbs_up:
